Pub Quiz! Which pub is this?

"The dark probably does this pub a lot of favours - when we returned to it in the cold light of day we were surprised how delapidated it actually was. Authenticity is one thing, but they could make a stab at preservation too."

The fact that the name has "Hotel" in it and it's in London would probably lead you to think the that this place is going to be a bit pricey. You wouldn't be wrong. The fact that there is a wine bar in the cellar should further add to your suspicions. If you're still brave enough to venture inside, you'll see that the bar staff wear shirts and ties and then you'll know for sure that your cash reserves are about to be severely depleted.

The interior is in complete contrast to The Queens Head just down the road. Where The Queens Head is dark, dingy and cluttered inside, The Brook Green Hotel is light, open and spacious. The high ceiling and the huge windows and mirrors see to that. Even the beer is served in straight tall glasses. Obviously regular pint glasses are considered to short and dumpy to fit in with the whole height motif. Fortunately this selectiveness doesn't appear to extend to the patrons, the vertically challenged are not denied entrance.

Out back there is what the owners would no doubt like to call a beer garden, but what can more accurately be described as a patio with some plants on it.

If you were to consider taking children to The Brook Green Hotel be warned, one of the regulars is an old guy with a huge white beard. Even to an adult he has an undeniable resemblance to Santa. If the obvious question is asked, it's a good opportunity to get a bit of economic grounding into the little ones. It can't be Santa, cause there is no way that anyone who only works one day a year could afford to drink in The Brook Green Hotel.

Lay off the Brook Green Hotel. The staff are friendly, and despite having actual paying guests they never neglect the die hard drunks, and treat them as perfectly acceptable clientele! The beer garden 'patio' can feel like being in the a cypriat lime gorve if the sun is out (and youve had enough reasonably priced beer. Nowhere near as poncey as the Queens Head. This is a proper pub!

Avoid eating in this pub! One of my friends had the revolting experience of nearly eating a large live slug that was working it's way through his tuna salad. If this was not bad enough, the attitude of the manager was utterly appalling and left all of us off our food and angry by the way our friend and the group were treated. We barely received an apology. I would stay clear of this place.
